We’ve had a bit more use on Facebook the last couple of weeks, so we’ve decided to ramp things up over there. If you’re on facebook and you haven’t liked us yet, you can of course do so: Lesbian Gamers Facebook page. Whereas the website (that’s the thing you’re on at the moment) will remain the hub of relevant gaming news and of course our wonderful forum, the Facebook page is more of an engagement space, well it is a social networking site after all, so let’s be social! We won’t be posting a multitude of crap and filling your facebook pages, we hate when other facebook pages do that, but we will be having fun hopefully, so if you haven’t liked us yet.. get on over and do it you cheeky devil.. go on.

Oh we also added one of those facebook widgety things to the side of the main site.

According to the rather lovely Heather Peace, she plays cop Sam Murray in UK TV series “Lip Service”, series 2 of the show is in the can. There’s still no official release date, though rumors suggest it will air 2012. Peace stated “Officially wrapped on series 2 of Lip Service….. It’s all in the can!! X”. Who else can’t wait to see what becomes of Frankie, Cat, Sam and of course Tess and her hot electrician? Aussie TV viewers, “Lip Service” season 1 is presently airing on Foxtel channel Showcase.

If you’re not up to date with “Warehouse 13″ and you don’t want to know who’s gay, avert your eyes. Right, sadly it isn’t Myka or H.G, even though most of us love their chemistry. The new gay character in “Warehouse 13″ is Agent Steve Jinks (played by Aaron Ashmore). So why report on this when it’s not a lesbian? Simple, “Warehouse 13″ is a sci-fi series and this doesn’t happen very often in that genre (though “Caprica” and “Battlestar Galactica” went some way). The thing I loved about the introduction of this story is that there was no story, it was said, accepted and things moved on. Claudia’s response on hearing the news couldn’t have been more perfect and Ashmore’s cool yet dorky demeanor superb, there was no fruity ‘oh he’s obviously gay’, there was no ‘let’s throw in this stereotypical gay thing so the audience gets it’. We can all wish for that Helena Wells and Myka Bering reunion, where they realize they’re made for each other, but chances are that’s not going to happen, but at least “Warehouse 13″ went there and in a nonchalant manner. For those who missed the Myka Bering and Helena Wells goodness, I’ve popped a youtube clip in for you (nice clip by user “nowhere897x”).

For no other reason than it’s Friday and we thought this was filled with awesome. This video is a fan-made mashup of The Legend of Zelda and 80′s teen film, like The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Anyway who can resist a hot girl in a rainbow tee with a guitar? Not us!!

You know we’re always on the lookout for any gaming or geek grrly goodness and today we spotted this rather sweet female Boba Fett by deviant artist chewyli. The artist says “I saw this female boba fett on this blog and thought: I can give it my own twist. So here’s a speedpaint of Boobie fett (I apologize for that). Tried the original helmet first, but somehow that design just doesn’t fit on women. So I changed it up a bit, smoothed the lines and made it look more like the ancient version of mandalorian armor (nerd alert). In general what I find disturbs me in some female versions of Boba fett I’ve seen is that the female part is too emphasized and the bad-ass part of Boba Fett isn’t. He/She should look like ready to kill while being a (wo)man of few words”. Boobie Fett aside we thought this was awesome and worth highlighting here at Lesbian Geek.

Yay! Lip Service got the second season we were all waiting for. The news was announced a couple of weeks ago but we’ve been swanning around like lazy lesbians enjoying the holiday break… oops! Ahh well, better late than never eh? Our call to help save Lip Service has had quite the comments, thanks to everyone who took the time to comment and support the thread and in turn the show. Now we just have to wait and see what happens! Show creator Harriet Braun said she was incredibly happy to be given the opportunity and added she has some “great twists, turns and surprises” up her sleeve for season 2. Bring it lady!

Thought we’d take a little trip down awesome female TV character street today, with a little look at Sarah Walker, the special agent in geek TV series Chuck. If you’re not familiar with the series (geek points revoked!) the eponymous hero Chuck is a regular geek thrown into some CIA type shenanigans, his handler is Agent Sarah Walker, played by Aussie actress Yvonne Strahovski. If you’re thinking she looks familiar and can’t quite place her, perhaps you’ve played Mass Effect 2 and recognize her as female character Miranda Lawson, a character she voiced and modeled. If you’re looking for a cool female TV character who kicks a lot of ass, look no further than Sarah Walker in Chuck.

Today we posted the “It Get’s Better” message from Pixar studios to Twitter. Pretty much everyone who has taken the time to view the video has loved it (myself included), but one friend messaged me to say something interesting. I had watched the video and thought “this is great”, not only because of the overall message, but also because everyone knows Pixar, they bring people joy and I thought it was a really great thing for them to do (I still do). A friend though said he thought the video was awesome, other than it’s full of gay stereotypes. I watched the video back with fresh eyes and kind of saw what he was saying. Regardless of that however, if you missed this video, give it a watch, it’s great stuff.

Hello ladies. Who has been enjoying BBC 3 series “Lip Service”? If you’ve missed this show the DVD and Bluray release is on Monday (15th November R2). If you’re in the UK though, we urge you to watch the show when the finale airs 10:30pm Tuesday night on BBC 3 to help maintain the “Lip Service” ratings and therefore push for a second series (even if you buy the DVD and watch the finale prior to it airing). Series one of “Lip Service” is 6 episodes long, but it’s such a good show one would hope a longer second season. Who else is watching? Sure it’s not real “lesbian geek” genre, but we’re using the excuse that Tess is a total geek, also we want to help this show get a second series because it’s got a great cast, compelling drama and good production. Who’s watching?!

Who else is loving the lesbian subtext between Myka Bering and the female HG Wells in SyFy’s show Warehouse 13? The character of HG was interesting from the get go and without giving away major spoilers has definitely ingrained herself into the show in a major way. Gamers too must have howled with glee during her big reveal in the Egyptian episode, absolute class. Myka and Helena (HG) definitely have ‘something’ between them and HG’s recent quip that “many of my lovers were men” only pegged home the fact she has definitely had female lovers. It’s doubtful SyFy would ever go there, which sucks, but they don’t have to, with fanfic and videos cropping up all over the internet. Who else loves Myka and HG Wells?
