woo! there we go then :)
I've never really got the hang of it to be honest; I have to admit that I'm more of a facebook addict, and I'm absolutely awful at paraphrasing, so twitter cuts me short… :/

@SheSaid
Sums up my feelings on Twitter nicely, I dont see the point. I really dont care about Soccer Mom in Texas picking up her kids from school at 3:30, but some big star, and then it becomes interesting.

I have found that Twitter, Facebook and all the other social networking sites can do amazing things for amazing people. So, Example. I have a friend who is a costume designer. She decided that she wanted to make the crew of Mass Effect (costume form) for ComiCon this year in hopes of gaining some recognition in her costuming skills to be able to possibly be in a documentary by Morgan Spurlock (best known for Super Size Me) with the likes of Stan Lee and other comic book legends, and maybe get a shot at working on the upcoming Mass Effect movie. (Along with me I might add) So off we went into the world of tweets and facebook and blog posts and eventually the huge news gaming site Kotaku picked up her video. Within an hour she then became "top tweet" on Twitter and then BAM! within a few days she was picked up for the documentary. Who knows the possibilities for her from here! They could be endless. All because of a little social networking.
I think that these places are amazing for meeting people (you would never meet in person) from around the world, with limitless connections and the possibilites of giving us new perpecives and ideas and support that we couldn't have gotten elsewhere no matter how many phone calls we make. I see things and hear news that I might otherwise have missed out on that came to me through them. So it's not just about going to the grocery store, or walking your dog, or playing a game. It's about expanding the way we commuicate with the world and giving ourselves the chance to dream bigger than ourselves and see these things come to fruition with help from those we've never met. It has happened before. It will happen again. But only for those that race toward it.

@Masseffectme
See thats different, your friend wasnt some mom from texas tweeting about her mundane life, your friend is a up and coming costume designer trying to make it in the business, in those cases social networking is very important since
it allows you to get 'discovered' and get your name out there in the world in a way you probaly couldnt otherwise.
Mostly I was just refering to the people who arent trying to make a name and dont have any apirations or anything, they just like telling the world about their boring life picking up dry cleaning and making dinner for the kids and husband and a bunch of other stuff no one really cares about.

Wow! I wasn't expecting this kind of response! I agree with you when you mention the 'getting your name out there' significance of social sites.
I'm also a curious creature; I heard about twitter, thought 'what's that all about then' and decided to sign up to check it out. I've got to admit I thought it was fun to start with but I did then get incredibly bored with getting updated on the mundanities of 'walking into town with peeps' or 'bought a new spade today' kinda stuff. I do, however, use it to try to make a name for myself; I have far too many projects going on and I want to get known for at least one of them.
If it ever happens I won't accredit Twitter, though…

Iused twitter for a while, but I can't check it from my phone and I kind of stopped making time for it when I'm at home on the computer… but I will say it's easy to dismiss Twitter as boring and/or pointless if you don't really use it, and actually maybe it is if you don't have many interesting friends. If someone's actually using Twitter to just saying things like "just picked the kids up" then yeah, that's pretty lame, but if you have people on your friends list with a good sense of humor you'll probably get a lot of funny tweets.
