I thought it might be a good idea also to start a thread where we could discuss and inquire about each others hobbies outside of gaming, see if any of us have similar hobbies, etc.
So if you'd like to share, maybe tell us some of your hobbies, what you're currently into or invested in or something you'd like to learn or pick up. Anything really!

Supah idea! ^^
Lets see… Drawing, reading/writing fanfiction, singing (though I suck at it ^^; ), watching anime/reading manga (if you could consider that a hobby XD).. I guess that's about it XD
I'd love to play guitar, so I've recently been trying to pick it up (again XD).

reading, writing (i'm currently writing a lesbian novel), anything that has to do with music, anime/manga, latch-hooking, making ringtones
I would like to get into either magic the gathering and/or dunegon and dragons because I've always wanted to play; and I considered picking up guitar.

@Duran – What do you like to draw the most? Any particular medium you prefer (poster board, canvas, plain paper)? What fandoms do/have you written fanfic for?
@Cosmicgrlladisi – What do you like to read the most fiction or non-fiction? What genre is your favorite? What genre do you like to write the most?
@ you both – Guitar is a lot fun if you can get over the initial stage of your fingers hurting and not being able to play what you want right away xD
For me, I love origami and papercraft, occasionally draw (not well), play guitar and other things musical. Recently started learning more about body language, I find it really intriguing and it's very interesting when you start noticing certain things other people do At least I think so xD

Reading and listening to music. How blase, I know Gaming is really my main 'hobby.' I also have produced local bands in the recording studio (during school, so sadly I no longer have access to that studio), but hopefully that'll someday be more than a "hobby."

Right now, I'm reading a bunch of books about cycling. As far as fiction, I like John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, page-turner type books. I like sci-fi/fantasy in movies and TV, but I've never been able to get into it in print form.
Right now I'm really loving the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I've got three of their albums and am looking for more. I wouldn't say I really have a favorite style of music – I can get into almost anything, even country western if it's any good. I like just about anything I can get my ears on. It ticks me off sometimes to hear people say "You like (X band….Nickelback, Creed, whatever)? But they're terrible! You have awful tastes!" They're not terrible if people like them. Maybe they're not as technically proficient as the basement garage band nobody's heard of but for whom you're their biggest fan, but you know what, what sells is what sells. It's that simple. If the music market bought up songs in 15/8 time with 50 different instrument tracks millions of copies at a time, then Battles would be the biggest band in the world. But for some reason, they're not.
Sorry, that kind of turned into a rant :P

Drawing and writing. I'd love to make a comic book, but I can't really draw good enough ;| Can making prank calls be a hobby? My friend and I love to call blockbuster with the most ridiculous scenarios. We make sure that all the calls could actually be real… you wouldn't believe some of the stuff they actually believe. We record them and make MP3 files, of course.

Let's combine our forces and make teh most awesome comic the world has ever seen.
Hmm, my hobbies are.. taking long walks, definitely a nice way to relax after a long day, draw a bit and read comics to get a feel for different drawing styles and whatnot. Photography(i lost my camera) Playing games also takes up a chunk of my free time, being silly and sarcastic are also a great hobby of mine. Reading books if i'm in the right mindset to do it, and i really love to cook, best way to spend my time lol
@Alligatoring: You do origami? Man, that shit is difficult, i try it every now and then but it sure tests my patience.
Body language is a very interesting subject, in a conversation i think it's like, 65 procent of how we use our body language, 25 procent is how we say something and the last 10 procent is what we're saying, that's important in a conversation. I had about it while i did DiSC profiles, very interesting stuff for sure.

Sucks that you lost your camera… a paparazzi- er, photographer such
as yourself needs a camera.
Anyway, I have a feeling I'm going to be paying a lot of attention to
body language now.

*sighs* Yeah, i need a camera but shit happens so i'll just have to wait untill i can afford a new camera. Which will be in, like, forever.
good idea, you'll learn a lot more if you notice the different postures that people use when talking to you, but don't go overboard with it, you should still pay attention to what people are saying =p

@SheSaidSheSaid – I reserve the right to mock Nickelback! =P
@Babycha – What kind of stuff do you like to write and draw?
@Nimbo – Sarcasm is your first language? It's mine as well xD What do you like to cook the most?
Origami can take a lot of time, but I don't do anything overly complicated like folding a beetle out of one piece of paper – that is crazy. You can make some pretty cool looking stuff (modular) by folding a bunch of easy stuff and sticking them together. Lately I've been making Kusudamas and sonobe units. I'll teach you to make a jumping frog if you'd like
Body language is quite interesting, those numbers make sense when you think about it, we're going to believe what the body posture and tone of voice indicate over the actual words. Lie To Me is a great show to watch if you're interested in it

@alligatoring: Please teach me to make a frog, that would be all kinds of awesome. And yes, sarcasm is my native language.
I like cooking just about anything really, i don't really like to follow a recipe, i tend to mess around with it and see what i can make.
I saw one episode of that show, it was cool. And i would love to talk about body postures, eye movements and all that, it is fascinating.

Stories in screen play format. Post apocalyptic and sci-fi settings are my favorite. I mostly draw out characters from stories that I create. I've never really been good at looking at things and drawing them sadly.
Ohh, jumping frogs are awesome! I used to make them in elementary all the time. And hats out of giant construction paper… ha.
I'll have to check out Lie to Me also.

@alligatoring I usually read both just depends on what I'm into at the time. Lately it's been alot of fiction call me a little childish but I am reading Howl's Moving Castle and the sequeal The House of Many Ways after I read Howl. It's actually pretty cool. I usually write fanfiction or lesbian fiction based on my life but using my alter ego.
@ Babycha calling blockbuster making prank phone calls that's pretty awesome in my book and recording them makes you just 10 times more awesome lol
@Nimbe I too am fluent in sarcasm : o )
@SheSaidSheSaid I'm been listening to a lot of chillout; but when you said the Yeah Yeah Yeahs I started thinking about The Tings Tings…I'll have to check the Yeah Yeah Yeah's out.

@Alli: Depends, usually fanart of my favorite anime/manga, but I take requests as well so yeah ^^; I prefer plain paper but canvas will do it once in a while as well. As for the last one: http://www.fanfiction.net/~app…..eaddiction ^^ I can pretty much write about any fandom, I just need the drive for it XD
Luckily I haven't had my fingers hurting at all XD
Also, I like to record things, whether it's songs or random dialogues (including dialogues for the abridged serie my friend and I working on) XD

summarized in this: browse the Internet and playing video games.
This may seem short, but with the Internet there are a lot of

However, one day I

They're pretty cool. A little weird, but good. I've heard their style described as "art punk." I just checked them out because I like traditional rock bands with girl lead singers. I especially like their album Fever to Tell because it includes a few quirks from the recording sessions (singer counting off a song that has a quick intro, drummer messing up an intro and taking another take) that are normally edited out. Adds to the 'rough feel' the album has, which fits its style.

@Nimbo – what would be the best way to show you how, picture tutorial video perhaps? Have you seen Katy Brand's "That's Not My Name," parody? Is there any meal or dish you like making more? Like cake?
We should start a thread about Lie To Me / body language and call it Body Talk xD
@Cosmicgrlladisi – Do you write fanfiction for any particular fandoms?
@Babycha – Have you seen/heard the Ventrilo Lindsey pranks posted on YouTube? You should make a comic book or maybe a web comic strip! You're my hero for pranking BlockBuster by the way
@Duran – What's the abridged series you're working on? My friend got me to watch a Yu-Gu-Oh one on Youtube, it was really funny

@Alli: Yeah Lil'Kuribo is awesome XD Though I usually watch Naruto Abridged (And the abridged series of that one) and K-on! Abridged. We're abridging Venus Versus Virus, but she's pretty lazy.. XD She's still editing it, but it should be up soon. That and I auditioned to play Alyssa Searrs for the Mai-HiME Abridged series, but that's on haitus for now, so it's still the question if I get that role XD

Watching sports live or on the tube (NFL – Panthers, Soccer -MLS USMNT Premier, MLB – Braves Red Sox, NHL – Hurricanes, NCAAF – UT, nascar) Played intramural flag footbal and softball in college, but not really any chance to play team sports around here.
Driving (seriously my fave way to spend an afternnon. Love tearing up some back country roads)
Reading (mostly non-fiction and a lil bit o' scifi)
I plan on picking up fishing this summer. I went fishing frequently when a youngin but never really payed attention to what I was doing. Use to go with the guys before they all got married, but mostly just sat around and chilled. May have cast a line once or twice but always made the boys do the dirty work. Guess taking a fish off a hook should be something I ad to the irrational fears thread. Eventually I'd like to take up hunting (mostly interested in duck/goose) or clay shooting. But that's a future goal.

Fishing is cool. I used to do it when i was younger and there is something so relaxing about it(if you ignore having to deal with gross worms and the likes) just kicking back and waiting, enjoying the time without a care in the world. I should start fishing again lol.

Indeed! I was actually kind of shocked when I use to go with my male friends. It was like an impromptu thearpy session for them. Really emotional conversations were shocking. Of course they were interupted by popping a top or trying not to get finned by a catfish.
I think the whole outdoors aspect is what is drawing me back to it. As someone that works nights it's rare to get out and enjoy some fresh air and sunlight. I have a feeling a may fall into old habits and go after catfish at night though. Keep us up to date if you decide to cast a line again.
