*Rather guiltily points to a stack of textbooks.*
As an English major who wants to be an author, I feel a tad ashamed by how little I read. I've pretty much covered my love in books — fantasy — and I've hit the point where what I want, well, I have to write.
You're not alone. I usually am so hooked into writing my novel that I forget to read books that I want to.

I've just finished "The Midnight Hunt" by LL Raand.
It's about lesbian werewolves.
It also has vampires and other supernatural creatures.
The main characters are a human named Drake and a werewolf named Sylvan.
It's very steamy once you get pass the introductions.
If
Twilight by Stephanie Meyers didn't ruin vampires for me, I'd read that one. Sounds interesting, though.
As for what I've read, I've just finished Trans-Sister Radio. I
hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE the ending to it. Before that, I finished
Fablehaven
and was left deeply unimpressed by the structure of the story and how
bland the characters were. (Well, the story was good for building
vocabulary, but that's about it.) The last GOOD book I read was
Before Wings by Beth Goobie, which was a chilling tale about a
survivor of an aneurysm who is now able to see ghosts. I also recently
re-read Am I Blue?, a short story collection by Marion Dane
Bauer.
