Well we say “butched up” in the sense of the Hollywood butch, shaggy hair and looks like she’s been dragged through a hedge (Yes I’m looking at you Frankie Alan and Shane McCutcheon). Game Informer have the new Lara Croft as the cover of their January issue (which we’ve included below). The reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise will take us back to when Lara was young and less experienced. Through the game we’ll see how Lara became the strong willed woman many of us have grown to love.
What do you think of the new Lara? Personally I’ll take Lara Croft butch, lesbian, bi, gay, straight and in any packaging. I think it will be interesting to see how the inexperienced Lara learns to survive after a traumatic event.

Oh and I should add there is some odd coincidence here as our talented “Lesbian Tryst” artiste Amanda recently did us a new Lara named “Lara Cropped” for a new piece we’re doing. More about that shortly.
Addendum:
Here’s the official word folks.
Square Enix Ltd. is excited today to announce TOMB RAIDER®, the new game from Redwood City based studio Crystal Dynamics.
Here begins the first adventure for a young and inexperienced Lara Croft in a story which charts the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.
“Forget everything you know about TOMB RAIDER, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game,” said Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics. “This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”
Now who’s excited?
Exciting, but then this is Lara Croft so that is to be expected.
They should have given her the tomboy look and just gone with the short hair, I guess that would have been too edgy? Though given Square Enix involvement they could have gotten away with it.
I do like the new look Lara. Although I can’t say she looks younger. I think she looks older than previous Laras. As you mentioned above, I too love Lara in any packaging and am a HUGE fan. Personally I can’t wait for the new game. I might have to take a week off work so I can play uninterrupted! ^_^
F*ck Me I am beyond excited.
Lara Croft is one of the best game characters ever made and though the series got a bit stale with Eidos, it kicks serious arse with Crystal Dynamics.
Butch Lara Croft would have been good though.
I was worried about Squares input into the franchise, but I am feeling little more settled with it. I do hope they keep the usual gameplay.
I do assume Ms. Croft is going to be sporting a bow and arrows as opposed to pistols, that could be interesting.
Squares’ got hands in this? Where is her younger “cousin”?
I just hope the game is good. It’s all fine and great to update and change a character but… if the game still sucks then it’s all a waste of time and $$.
Hopefully this will be the best lara croft game ever… cuz otherwise i will have to go back and play the old ones for my first lara experience.
I just read the article on Game Informer and this looks like a promising game. Now the new look for Lara is way better than the old one. I love the fact that they are making her more human.
Given to how Square usually fails with sequels im worried to what Lara will do in this. Aya Brea was ruined with the sequel and even more so in the third birthday.
