Lost Girl features lesbian subtext and kick ass female characters Kenzi and Bo

Lost Girl is a new show from Canadian network Show Case. Featuring two female leads in the form of Bo and Kenzi, Lost Girl has the Buffyverse feel, tinged with a little Blood Ties cheese. Bo (played by Anna Silk) is a succubus, a supernatural creature that feeds off the sexual energy of mortals. Her sidekick Kenzi is a cute, goth / emo chick with a smart mouth and sly hand. There is some lesbian content, in the form of Bo seducing women for information, and by seducing we mean kissing on neck and sometimes lips. The character of Bo is hard to place this early on, but she’s probably bi since there seems to be a zing with the female doctor in the show (as well as the male cop).

Though we’ve used the “lesbian subtext” terminology in this post, it’s actually less subtext than say Rizolli and Isles, though there are some amusing quips.

On a side note, Anna Silk (Bo) also played Cassidy in Canadian series Being Erica. Clips for both Lost Girl and Anna Silk as Cassidy below.
Incidentally, if you’ve missed Being Erica, that is another great Canadian series.

Watched the “Being Erica” episode “Everything She Wants” on Hulu:

It was surprisingly sensitive and well-written, giving Cassidy’s point of view as a lesbian caught up in the situations, not just Erica’s.
