La Femme Nikita remake on the way

We should really have a section at Lesbian Geek called ‘Girls with Guns’ shouldn’t we, since it’s kind of nerdy, but not as nerdy as ‘girls with guns in glasses’. Anyway let’s get to it, La Femme Nikita is getting a remake and why should we care? Because it is one of the most awesome films of all time. No I’m not sure if I am really excited by this, but let’s face it a new Sydney Bristow styled character might be alright. In saying that if you want to experience the true beauty of Nikita, hire out the original french film version by Luc Besson (1990) and watch it in French with subtitles… it is sublime. The US remake The Assassin (1990) starring Bridget Fonda… not so good and the US TV series (1997) that followed was kind of like Xena with guns, though not quite to Xena or Bristow standards. Now, who can they get as Nikita? If they’re looking for a waif (like Anne Parillaud in the original film) how about Mia Kirshner, she looks as though a Desert Eagle pistol might be about the same size as her… ya think?
