Where the heck did this week go… oh that’s right… Assassin’s Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2, those damn sequels take up a lot of time, but who’s complaining! As well as all that, there’s been plenty of gaming news in the offing and we’ve got a neat little roundup of video gaming news of the week. Catch them all after the jump and have a great weekend, especially those in the US as they celebrate Thanksgiving.
Deus Ex 3 won’t be a PC exclusive apparently
Rumors flew this week that Deus Ex 3 was going to be out for PC only. This prompted a spokesperson for Eidos Montreal to write on the official Eidos forums that “only the PC version has been announced so far”, leading to speculation that obviously a console version will also be announced. It would be odd if Eidos went PC exclusive with this one.
Left 4 Dead 2 Xbox lag issues addressed
Anyone having played Left 4 Dead 2 on Xbox Live since it released has probably had all manner of glitchy lag issues. Well the good news is Valve (as always it seems) has listened and have done a bit of troubleshooting on their network. Hopefully it will fix things that have been driving gamers demented.
Next Professor Layton title The Miracle Mask
The next Professor Layton title now has a name “Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask”. This will be the fifth Layton title and sees the eponymous hero and his sidekick looking into the mystery of a wish-granting miracle mask.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Beta info
Associate Producer of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – Gordon Van Dyke – has given an update as to the subject of PC Beta for the game. Van Dyke states “With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta’s capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate,” Van Dyke wrote. “Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.”
Uncharted 2 DLC free for Friday
Black Friday is a good day for gamers in the USA because there are loads of bargains to be had. Seems the guys and gals at Naughty Dog wanted to share some Black Friday love and release DLC for Uncharted 2 for free. The content titled “The Fort” is a multiplayer mode and will be available today on PS3.
And the critics say Tony Hawk Ride sucks ass
Man has this Tony Hawk game been panned. There’s really not much else to say other than all those reviewers can’t be wrong, apparently it’s got rubbish controls and is a big frustration fest. Think before you buy!
Pandemic and EA officially announce Mercs Inc
The sequel to 2005′s Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction has officially been announced as Mercs Inc (working title). This will be the third Mercs game and is expected to release some time next year. It’s a shame all those axed Pandemic staff can’t overly celebrate this announcement.
Puzzle Quest returning to roots
After a slight detour with their last few games, Infinite Interactive seem to be taking what we all loved about Puzzle Quest and revisiting that for the actual sequel. After the awesomeness of the original Puzzle Quest many felt Puzzle Quest: Galactrix was a bit of a let down, so it’s cool we might see more Puzzle Quest action shortly.
Australian Attorney General Michael Atkinson at it again
This guy is fast becoming Australia’s very own Jack Thompson character. He clearly has no clue what he’s talking about with regards to video games. This is one of the people behind all those lovely video game bannings we abhor and one of the reasons we don’t have our 18+ rating. He’s allegedly not got a clean political record, but let’s do what he thinks regarding moral choices shall we. *sigh*
its really sort of sad that the only relevant dyke in gaming this week is a man named Van Dyke. epic bummer. LOL
too bad it turned out like that though.. that is something I probably would have actually played lol
but on the plus side thank you for the heads up about Tony Hawk
