Here we go again people. It’s movie tie-in time. X-men Origins: Wolverine is of course a game based on the movie of the same name. The game covers the Wolverine back-story in some detail. One of the first things noted whilst playing this title is the sheer amount of gore and over the top violence. Wolverine is violent and unrelenting as he mows through a multitude of enemies in a variety of bone crunching, head slashing ways.
If you like fighting combos Wolverine has them in droves, it’s just a shame the game is all so repetitive that it becomes rather dull. Dodge, fight, dodge fight, dodge fight. Of course if you love the X-Men that isn’t to say you’re not going to enjoy the repetition, as it does have a few sweet effects. This game though is probably a miss or a rent for those that enjoy linear third person hack and slash. For those that enjoy the X-Men universe and particularly Wolverine, wait a few months until it’s on sale and snap it up then. It’s not wholly awful, but it’s really not worth a full price purchase. It is a movie-tie in though and as that genre goes, this is actually not that bad, but it does only last around 8 hours.
