Here's your gaming news roundup for the week. We've left out the whole hoo harr over the Xbox Live banning of Teresa, because we'll no doubt be covering that further in the coming week. We don't want to go over the top with it, as it is but one bit of news in a sea of gaming. Essentially we won't bombard you with it wherever possible.
Now onto your regular gaming news roundup.
Microsoft and Universal hop into bed
MS has struck a deal with Universal studios that will see their films appearing over Xbox Live (no gay films we're guessing… sorry.. couldn't help it. Ed.). The deal was announced in the UK this week and will see some fairly big name films released to the service (at a cost obviously). Remember Netflix isn't available to everyone, so this is at least a start.
Nintendo unveil new Wii controller
Don't wait on this one releasing outside of Japan though. The new Wii controller looks essentially like the classic controller with added legs like the old GameCube controller and additional shoulder buttons. It's been called the "Pro". Who knows when we'll see it released.
Where is Puzzle Quest Galactrix?
Seems like something went amiss with the February 24 release of Galactrix when it allegedly appeared on the XBL service for mere moments before disappearing again. The official website is keeping schtum.
Lost Planet 2 will feature 4 player co-op
Capcom has been banging on about Lost Planet 2 this week and they revealed a few tidbits including the ability to play full campaign 4 player co-op. This is a welcome addition, assuming it's still there in the final release. From memory Lost Planet made statements that it never lived up to.
Capcom dates Flock
Capcom again? Yeah, but this one was actually interesting to us at the LG as we like what we've seen so far. Flock is a cute title where you use a UFO to herd sheep and other animals (gods anyone remember "Herdy Gerdy" on the original Xbox?). If it sounds quirky it looks even quirkier. No release date, but it's on our gaydar.. err.. radar (I stopped myself saying DRADIS and if you know what that means bonus points to you my geeky friend!). Flock will be out 7 April on PC, 8 April XBLA and 9 April PSN. Baaaaaaa.
New PSP titles include big names and lilac
Assassin's Creed, Rock Band and LittleBigPlanet will be making their way to the PSP (I know… Rock Band right? wtf). Good news for fans of those titles. On the downside Hannah Montana is also getting the PSP treatment and will come bundled with a lilac PSP (hey at least it's not pink!).
Gaming Tidbits
MS unveil a red Xbox 360 – maybe this will make the RRoD seem more at home.
Exit 2 released on Live – We quite liked Exit on the PSP, now you can play it on XBLA.
Liesure Suit Larry Box Office Bust will release in the spring thanks (or not) to Codemasters.
Mass Effect 2 trailer releases and all does not look too healthy for a certain Shepard.
First review of Dead Rising Wii says it's not great – In its defense, how can any zombie game top L4D?
Gearbox Aliens RPG dies – Gutted. According to the designers twitter, it's dead in the water.
The aliens RPG died?! Damn I was looking forward to that.
Well, less so now that DOW2 came out and proved to be a tactical RPG in RTS clothes.
