Video Gaming News rundown – Spore, Assassin’s Creed 2, GTA IV DLC and more

Here we are again with your gaming news rundown for the week. Think of us as your gaming news archeologists, scraping through the dirt so you don’t have to and only reporting on the news that matters.

So settle back it’s all here, including more Spore, Ubisoft news and loads of little gaming tid bits!

Ubisoft announcements include Assassin’s Creed 2 info
Assassin’s Creed 2 was one of a few titles listed as being released in the 2009/2010 fiscal year for Ubisoft. Most press sources seem to be pinning an Assassin’s Creed 2 release this year. Other titles expected to release in the fiscal year include: Splinter Cell Conviction, Ghost Recon, Anno, and movie tie-ins – don’t all groan at once – Avatar and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Oh there was also mention of Red Steel II.. why gaming gods why!!!!!!

Grand Theft auto IV DLC info
Rockstar announced the upcoming GTA IV expansion The Lost and the Damned will set you back 1600 Microsoft Points. No big shock there really. The Lost and the Damned will be released February 17 for the Xbox 360 and is the first of two DLC episodes for the game.

More Spore – Because more creatures are good
EA has three more Spore titles in development. The games include Spore Creature Keeper for PC. Creature Keeper is a Spore title aimed at the younger gamer and sounds a little like a Tamagotchi styled affair. Spore Hero is the Wii title set to join the series and will be an “adventure game”. Lastly there’s also Spore Hero Arena, a DS outing that sounds a little like Pokemon as you battle 3D Spore creatures. Can you say “Milk it milk it milk it”.

New Gears of War 2 achievements revealed
And they are: Skeletons in your Closet (20 pts), More Mystery, Less history (15 pts), Trial by, and on, Fire (20 pts), Forged in the Fire (15 pts), Bound by a Shared Past (15 pts), The Roof! The Roof! The Roof (15 pts) and Annex: Now With Execution Rules (75 pts). Go forth and whore them.

Gridrunner+++ April release
Ahh Jeff Minter, how I loved thy freakish games back in the day. Yes the man who brought us Space Giraffe is back and bringing us Gridrunner+++ on XBLA and though there’s no actual pricing or release date one would think around 400 pts given the expected content.

Mario & Sonic Olympics 2 inbound
Looks like Mario and Sonic will be back for a sequel.

Age of Conan for 360 still coming
Funcom is still working on an Xbox 360 version of MMO Age of Conan, no idea when.

Midway brings 5 games to iPhone
Touchmaster titles are getting the iPhone makeover and added to the App Store. The titles are: Spellwinder, Dice King, Prismatix, Combo 11 and Carpet.

Sony and Microsoft handbags at dawn
Yes they were both at it again this week, showing how mature they are by taking swipes at one another… lame.

I Am Alive by Ubisoft delayed
Shocker! I Am Alive the “survival horror for the current generation” probably won’t be with us until well into 2010.

Resident Evil 5 demo for PSN
Capcom confirmed the PS3 is getting a Resident Evil 5 demo and it will hit February 2. The demo will hit Xbox Live Monday 26 January.

EA signs for Wheel of Time
Looks like the Robert Jordan fantasy series Wheel of Time will be an EA baby. Red Eagle are still making them though, including that MMO.

   Robert Jordan is dead and the series didn’t finish. if it was LOTR the ring never was destroyed. IDK why the franchise moves ahead…
   Anyways.
