Video Games That Put Women in Their Place – Interesting article

Whilst perusing a few gender related articles about gaming I came across a piece written by – personal favorite – Bonnie Ruberg. In “10 Video Games That Put Women in Their Place” Ruberg ruminates on 10 titles she feels have “put women in their place — and that place usually involves designing someone’s clothes or cooking someone dinner”.

It’s an interesting piece with some thought provoking inclusions. Perhaps not the exact list we would have come up with, though those Imagine titles by Ubisoft would most definitely have appeared. There’s an underlying subtext with games like these and regardless of the gender lines evening out in gaming all the time, some of these titles just drag us all back to a sad reality, that being, we’re nowhere near there yet.

Anything with the word “Imagine” in the title, or ending in the letter Z was bound to end up in a list like that.
Wasn’t expecting RE4 though. Although, that’s a game I have yet to play.
