The Maw Xbox Live Arcade game – Worth a look

We haven’t had time to check out “The Maw” on XBLA – damn work! – but we have it on very good authority this is a game we should all download and play. Apparently it’s a quirky little title with some good production values. Oh and it also won the Audience Choice Award at Penny Arcade Expo 2008.

The Maw is out today for 800 points and follows the story of Frank, a cute alien who has had a bad day. He’s been abducted by intergalactic bounty hunter scum, but he’s about to meet a blobby alien chum and together they’re going to have some charming XBLA fun.

Played it? What did you think?

I downloaded this last night and it’s great fun. It reminds me of the sort of platformers that used to be around in the mega drive days which is cool. I mean, I love me some fps games, but I cut my gaming teeth on mega drive platformers and it’s nice to be reminded of those games every once in a while.

I just played a little of The Maw- it’s very cute and a pretty decent title for an arcade game.

I thought it was pretty charming but the gameplay was a snooze. That was just by the demo though, so I think it’s one of those games you’d have to pay for before fully judging.
Could be some fun but I couldn’t promise it. Nice site, by the way.
