Gaming News Rundown!

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for the gaming news rundown. Sure we know we’ve not done the Friday gaming news rundown for a few weeks, but sometimes other things get in the way… like celebrity parties… being invited to all manner of game launches… oh and there was that thing with Jessica Biel… but we won’t go into that.

Alright alright, we’ve just been swamped okay, there I said it. All the gaming news you can blink at after the jumperoo.

No "Silent Hill Homecoming" for Australia?
We were really hoping we were wrong when we added this title to our "will it be passed by the Aussie Censors" list. Sadly it seems "Silent Hill Homecoming" will either be edited or banned in Australia because it’s been refused classification by Australia’s censors. Australia really needs to pull its head out of the beach and get a frakkin ’18′ rating before gamers start to lose it!

Xbox 360 outsells PS3 in Japan (again)
We know, bizarro isn’t it. Microsoft much be gleeful given this is the second week in a row the Xbox 360 has outsold the PS3 in Japan. Sure it means diddly given overall numbers, but it’s good to see the recent price drops is having some sort of affect in regions that normally wouldn’t give a hoot.

Xbox 360 sold 13,777 units, whilst the PlayStation 3 sold 8,156. Quick MS get those suckers engraved on a plaque somewhere because this won’t last!

Blackshot enters closed beta
Like free-to-play militaristic first-person shooters Well "Blackshot" has just entered closed beta. Aspiring guns for hire can register for a free Outspark account and apply for the Closed Beta Test now at www.playblackshot.com. A word of warning though for those of you who consider yourselves feminist gamers, the screenshots for this title show the female characters with small boob tube type vests on, whilst the guys have full on body armor… don’t all yawn at once. The Test lasts from September 30 to October 5, 2008 so get in quick if it’s your thing.

"Banjo-Kazooie" heads to 360
Ahh "Banjo Kazooie", remember what a cool game that was on the N64, well here’s your chace to get it for free on XBLA. If you pre-order "Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" from participating stores, you’ll get a download key for the original "Banjo Kazooie" title. Not getting "Nuts & Bolts", but you want "Banjo-Kazooie" for Xbox LIVE Arcade, no problem, it will be available for 1200 Microsoft points, when it launches this November.

Katy Perry sings in Simlish
Yes the girl that likes kissing girls without actually having done so is not only featured on The Sims 2 Apartment Life soundtrack with her new single "Hot N Cold", she also does so in Sim speak. The accompanying video clip for the song also sees Perry as her Sim self, fronting a funky Sim band.

Brain Training from Dr Kawashima makes kids smarter
According to new research conducted (initially) in Dundee, Scotland kids using Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training improved pupils’ concentration and behavior. The study involved more than 600 pupils in 32 schools across Scotland and showed that kids playing for 20 minutes at the start of their class for nine weeks improved over time with their maths. There was no noticeable difference in ability between girls or boys.

Jack Thompson gets disbarred, parties thrown.
Of little shock to anyone but himself it seems, anti-gaming ‘lawyer’ Jack Thompson has been disbarred for life from practicing law. Isn’t it odd they call it practicing? If I had a lawyer I’d want her or him to have gotten through the practicing stage and onto the actual lawyering.. anyways.. back to Jack… he’ll no doubt launch an appeal and get yet more publicity, so we’ll stop this news bite here.

HUGE Bungie announcement: More Halo 3 campaign guff
Meh.. I’m over it, but on the off chance you’re not and you like Bungie milking the Halo horse for all it’s worth… wait.. milking a horse… no.. flogging a dead cow is what we meant… anyway the announcement…. seems like the ‘teaser’ trailer released points to new campaigns for Halo 3. Here’s the teaser text.. prepare to be wowed…

"High action and deep mystery await players in the new Halo 3 campaign experience. Prepare to Drop!"

Wow.. awesome isn’t it… I can’t wait.. I’m being so sincere right now….

Molyneux thinks Fable 2 is *the dogs. New Game will be AWESOMENESS!
