Leipzig News and Gaming News general

As you may or may not be aware it’s the Leipzig Games Convention at the moment and with that comes plenty of news. We’ve broken it down to it’s most basic for you and there’ll also be a breakdown on some of these items with more detail appearing at AfterEllen for those that like a little more meat and less snark. That said we’ll be covering some additional info here, because more has happened since the AE news was written… now let’s get to it!

All the gaming news you can munch after the jumperoo.

Wonder Woman kicks ass in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
Speaks for itself really doesn’t it, it’s not Lynda Carter (swoon), but heck it’s Wonder Woman!

Disney SingStar warbling ensues
Like Disney movies and admit it in public, well why not warble away to The Little Mermaid and other hit Disney films when Sony release SingStar: SingAlong with Disney later in the year.

New PSP out in October
The New PSP 3000 is shiny black or silver, has a better LCD screen and a built in mic. Say you don’t want one!

Samba De Amigo release imminent!
Finally, get your maracas ready people, Samba De Amigo for the Wii is out in September! That’s 19 Sept in Europe and 23 Sept US. There’ll also be downloadable content available around its release(3 songs). Can’t wait! Oh and check out the red maracas at Amazon.

Myst for iPhone in development
According to MystOnline they’re working on Myst for the iPhone. An employee on their forums states "We are porting Myst to the iPhone. Ok, before some of you start groaning, this is an outside funded project that is keeping a few developers employed… but it is really more than that. It is an interesting and fun project." Can anyone say iPhone potential?

Ubisoft release more sexist titles
We’ll probably be covering this in more of an analytical manner shortly, but for the time being suffice to say Ubisoft’s slew of ‘aimed at particular gender’ falls into our lame bin. As a quick example check out ‘Tim Power’ aimed at boys and ironically part of the part of the “Games for Everyone” range. “Thanks to this range, they will have the opportunity to incarnate the real-life heroes they would like to be when they grow up: a policeman, a fire-fighter and a handyman." Nice one, because girls never want to be any of those things they just want Imagine Babyz.

Silent Hill Homecoming steams up PC
Silent Hill Homecoming will also get a PC release when it releases on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. If you like your creepy games PC gamers, Steam will be the place to get this one.

Overlord Minions for DS

If you liked Overlord on your PS3 or Xbox 360, get ready for minions on your DS when Overlord Minions releases next year from Codemasters. This one is definitely on our ‘to get’ list.

Cammy will appear in Streetfighter IV
Thought this would be a given, but apparently it took a public vote to ensure Cammy would make an appearance in the upcoming Streetfighter IV from Capcom. Go figure. It’s scheduled ‘TBA’ at present, we would gather next year.

Wii gets force feedback wheel
Peripheral makers Logitech are releasing a Wii steering wheel with force feedback. If you like a little Need For Speed, it will apparently work with the Wii version of Need For Speed Undercover which is due out around late November on pretty much every format.

Get your Mii on in Guitar Hero World Tour
Guitar Hero World Tour will feature a Mii Freestyle mode where you’ll be able to rock out as your Mii. It sounds a little thin on the ground in reality, but it’s still cool you get the option on the Wii, wonder if Xbox Avatars will follow suit.

Speaking of Guitar Hero World Tour, get ready for another instrument unveil and it won’t be another drum or guitar. Who’s betting on a keyboard or turntable addition to the game? We know Activision has trademarked DJ Hero and Keyboard Hero, so who knows. Personally a keyboard would be cool.

Given that the Drums work as a midi instrument I wouldn’t be suprised if it was a keyboard, but personally I’m rooting for Cowbell, Sitar or Huqin as the next instrument.

I got really excited by the Heavy Rain news and vids at Leipzig – until I saw ‘released late 2009′. In the words of a large yellow bald dude – d’oh!
The Wonder Woman news was awesome. There is now a pretty cool collection of female characters in this title – Catwoman, WW, Kitana, and Sonya Blade. LG Tryst anyone?
