Angelina Jolie the spy in Edwin A. Salt movie

Angelina Jolie the spy! Ahh yes, we like it a lot. Edwin A. Salt is a film slated for a 2010 release and follows the story of a CIA officer accused – by a defector – of being a Russian sleeper spy. She must then elude capture and of course prove her innocence.

The interesting thing about Edwin A. Salt is that the role Angelina is now thought to hold was actually Tom Cruise’s role. No word on why the change, but isn’t it great to hear a male role has gone to a woman and there’s been no hoopla about it (yet!). Perhaps Hollywood has finally realized a lot of people are adverse to Tom Cruise and his ‘weirdness’, or perhaps it’s just time we got another strong female lead character. This news ties in nicely with our She Got Guns post at Lesbian Gamers.

Now, I wonder if they’ll change the title to Edwina A Salt, or stick with Edwin as a codename.
