Jade Raymond, Fallout 3 and more in Gaming News Rundown!

Its Friday and you know what that means!! No not that you get to sit on your butt and plays games for two days straight… it means it’s time for the LG’s gaming news round-up! There’s a few cool bits of news this week and you’ll find them all right here, including some tidbits.

Included this week is the Banjo Kazooie WiiMote rumor, Fallout 3 banned! (Grrrr!), Jade Raymond update and some cool Rock Band 2 news.. and loads more! Yes folks it’s all delectably concise (ish) after the jumperoo!

Fallout 3 banned in Australia – ass!
This really burns me up, for frak sake will someone in the Australian Classification Board stop sitting on their hands and add a friggin R18+ certificate to games so this doesn’t happen!! Apparently the ‘chems’ seen in game were too close to actual drugs, so it was decided it couldn’t be given the MA 15+ certificate (the highest in Australia presently). Pathetic.

Half Life 2 Episode threeeeeeeeeee
No it wasn’t a typo, it was sheer unadulterated excitement! Anyway it’s nothing huge, just some concept art showing a certain Mr Freeman standing on the precipice of evil as the Advisor looms above. You can check it out at Into the Pixel.

Jade Raymond is still ‘Alive’
She’s a gorgeous girl, so it’s a shame that fact generally gets paid more attention than her actual computer science degree, fine arts degree and video game producer role. Anyways’ Jade is presently working on “I Am Alive” a survival horror title for X360, PS3 and PC. Why we think this might be good other than Jade “Assassin’s Creed” Raymond being attached? It’s being made by Darkworks – they did the rather awesome Cold Fear for Xbox back in 2003 and we loved that.

Rock Band 2 has ‘improved’ drums
… but will they be as awesome as the drums for Guitar Hero on Tour? Probably not, but there will be two different drum kits apparently. Both will have less noisy pads (aww no more funny mods!) and a better metal pedal. You’ll also apparently be able to buy attachable cymbals separately. There’ll also be an Ion drum kit which will be a bit costly with cymbals, adjustable drum pads it will apparently look like a real electronic drumkit (start saving now).

Mirror’s Edge looks awesome
We want it now, hopefully it will play as good as it looks – even though EA / DICE has broken the gaming law of never put jumping in a first person title! Female protagonist, gotta love that! The story is being penned by Rhianna Pratchett… Terry’s daughter none the less (she penned some of Heavenly Sword!).

Motion Control for Banjo Kazooie 3 – Rare says ‘no’
This rumor has been bubbling away for months and this week hit fever pitch when it was revealed the main in game device is a wrench (spanner) that will be used to turn things. Apparently there won’t be a big XMote reveal at E3, not for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Buts anyway.

Peggle has been released in shops by PopCap Games
XBLA and DS version due out later in the year. If you’re not sure what Peggle is it’s a popular downloadable game said to be more addictive that Pringles… honest. You can download a demo HERE

Konami are suing Harmonix – It’s Rock Bands fault.
Long time coming, apparently Konami has finally spat the dummy over the whole ‘we patented music peripherals before you and you ripped us off with Guitar Hero and Rock Band … and you made so much money off them we’re suing your ass!’.. thing… or words to that effect.

Hell’s Kitchen gets a game thanks to Ubisoft
Oh for f*cking f*ck dogs bollocks sake, why Ubisoft why! Yes we were channeling Gordon Ramsay there, though it appears Gordon, who constantly berates other TV chefs as being a bit lame ass, has no trouble selling out in every medium possible. He voices Hell’s Kitchen for Wii and DS. Given the formats, let’s assume Nintendo’s stringent rules will mean this f*cking piece of sh*t game will have foul mouthed Ramsey saying please and thank you and not his usual f*cking tirade of abuse.

Dead Rising 2 will apparently be be set in Vegas baby!
Patapon 2 announced pata pata pon pon pata pon!
Duke Nukem 3D seen on XBLA, must be close to release.
Rock Band 2 will have a drum trainer on it (teaches you actual drums).
Capcom working on ‘Flock’.. not the stuff you sprinkle on the base of your RPG figures.
Animal Crossing for Wii will be at E3…. apparenty.
Gears of Wars 2 dated via splash screen dog tags? (ESC-N-O-V-9).

   Here’s hoping the internet at large will just STFU about Jade Raymond. I doubt it though, it’s much more likely that a certain someone will make disgusting porn about her.
   I think it’s a shame that Mirror’s Edge is being Written by Terry Pratchet’s kid. Only because I would like some symmetry by having Halo written by Larry Niven’s kid. Assuming Mirror’s Edge is on a disk shaped world, of course. (here’s hoping)
   Cooking Mama is far superior to Hell’s Kitchen.

   Oy! More drum options. I think my partner and I will stick with guitar/bass in this next round (both RB2 and GHWT), at least until we get a chance to do a hands-on preview of the various kits and see how the dust settles.
   I don’t understand the whole internet Jade obsession. I worked with her before she went to UbiSoft. Yes, she’s quite nice to look at, but I am puzzled by all the craziness that has sprung up around her. Here’s hoping we don’t see a repeat of the drama with this next title.

   That banning is ridiculous but it’s not the Classification Boards’s fault it’s because we don’t have 18+ rating. And wasn’t that voted on in the not so recent past and was only stopped by ONE person. It’s just ludicrous. The 18+ rating needs to be put on the table again and passed.
   I’ve finally decided I’m getting an xbox360 (especially with the new lower price points) and also Rock Band to go with it. Though I’m not sure wether to wait for RB1 to be released here in Oz or import RB2 which is due out shortly. The Ion drum kit looks awesome and can actually convert to a real electronic drum kit but it’s too expensive for me.
   Oh, and I just read this week that there is going to be a new Buffy game on DS! That is frakking sweet!
