Harvest Moon Cute DS lesbian love

You can be a lesbian in Harvest Moon Cute DS, at least if you get the Japanese version of the game (Bokujou Monogatari Korobokkuru Sutēshon for Gaaru). Apparently if you have the Japanese version you can partner with a female character, they’ll move in with you and you can have a ‘Best Friends Ceremony’ on the beach. You can also apparently even have a child together.

Annoyingly the ‘best friends’ feature appears to have been taken out of the US release, with the female playable character only able to court male characters. We haven’t played this title to know for sure, but all reports seem to suggest Natsume removed the content for fear of media outrage. Natsume has allegedly declined to comment on the removal of the best friends feature. Can you spell L..A..M..E.

Sometimes I have to check the calendar to make sure this is really the year 2008… L A M E indeed.

  2. Zefbot says:

I’m definitely importing the Japanese version!

Media outrage? Whatever happened to ‘No such thing as bad publicity’?

    Boo. :(
It would be so nice to have a lesbian relationship in a game that wasn’t about OMG SMEX.

  5. Thefremen says:

“cute” and “homophobic” are hardly concepts which fit in the same game.
Comes as no suprise though, since games are often rated higher if they have any suggestion that ZOMG GAY PEOPLE EXIST.

  6. Oh that sucks! I love the Harvest Moon games. :(

  7. Yuzu says:

I have been waiting for this game because of the best friend feature, because it is so boring just to marry a boy, and it’s a whole lot better and more to marry(best friend)girl… I need to learn japanese so I can import it.

  8. Leah says:

Ugh I want the Japanese version so bad.

I’ve been looking everywhere for a hack to the English version but no luck. :( And I haven’t had any luck with a hack to the JP with translations either!

Think I’m just going to have to get the JP version and see if I can find a script for the US version so I can follow along.

The media might think they are representing the majority, but in reality it is the majority that is representing the media.
