LostWinds WiiWare title

Every now and again a game comes along and you think "Wow, that looks nice". LostWinds – just released for WiiWare in the US – is one such game. Described as "an enchanting adventure bursting with new gameplay ideas that embrace the innovative controller of the Wii", LostWinds seems to be a surefire hit, if a little short (reportedly around 3 hours).

Older gamers will probably be fairly taken aback when they see the name David Braben attached to this title. LostWinds was developed by Braben’s company ‘Frontier Developments’. Game geeks may automatically know Braben’s name due to a little title called Elite that released way back in 1984 (and it was awesome!).

We haven’t played LostWinds yet (we’re trying to arrange a review), but our good pal Michael over at BrainyGamer has and he thinks it’s pretty darn sweet. LostWinds is out now in the US, other regions TBA.

Absolutely love LostWinds. It feels more like an episode than a complete game, though– which is fine with me as long as they release future sequels/episodes in a timely manner. My only complaint is that with the exception of the boss, the baddie design is a bit… uninspired. Of course, fighting isn’t the point really, so that’s just nitpicking.

Erm… yeah, reloaded the front page and ended up double-posting… sorry.

  3. No problem lintspeed, there’s server issues going on with our host today.
    Thanks for the LostWinds rundown.
    xx

  4. LostWinds is such a sweet and wonderful surprise. Interesting, isn’t it, how a terrific little game like this can emerge in the midst of all the giant big-hype games and make me drop everything to play it. I hope you get in in Oz very soon.
FWIW, Boom Blox is lots of fun too, for totally different reasons.
Thanks for the link to my site! :-)

This is getting some very good reviews. If I ever get myself a Wii it would be the kind of title I would download on WiiWare.
