This is a new item you’ll be seeing from time to time where we essentially lump together all the general gaming news we haven’t previously covered that’s happened over the last few days. As you’re probably aware we do post general gaming news, but we don’t cover all stories as some – to be fair – are a bit boring and we like to have a lesbian / gay gamer slant wherever possible. Still on the off-chance you want more general gaming news, this is the post for you.
Let’s kick things off with a few things that have hit the gaming news stands for the last week or so, up to and including today. You’ll see it all broken down after the jump.
BioShock is coming out on the PS3 at the end of the year. Yes the Xbox 360 exclusive title that we at the LG loved is getting the PS3 makeover. We’re happy PS3 only owners are going to get a taste of this great game, but we also feel bad it’s yet another title they’re getting a year or more later than Xbox 360 owners.
Haze for PS3 more than sucks like a big ole sucky vacuum cleaner, only worse. Yes the reviews are in and apparently it’s dire. This is hardly surprising given the press footage we’ve been watching over the last few weeks, its sexist, macho crap at best and looks like just another FPS. We’ll review it if it’s sent out, but we won’t be parting with cash for this one.
WiiWare launched in Australia and Europe and we still haven’t had the time to get onto the service and download Lost Winds and Dr. Mario, but we will, oh yes we will.
Samba de Amigo Wii trailer launches, chimps and maraca shaking takes over the world. We’re huge fans of this game here at LG HQ and it’s great to see it utilizing two WiiMotes, awesome stuff. There’s also rumors of a clip on maraca adapter for maraca enthusiasts.. cha cha cha.
Oddworld Inhabitants back to gaming? According to Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun when he let slip at a University talk he was giving. Not sure if the title is the Citizen Seige game that was mentioned a couple of years ago, but its great to hope there’ll be a new Oddworld game in the making soon.
Activision officially announce Guitar Hero World Tour for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2. The game will feature a slick newly redesigned guitar, a genuine electronic drum kit and a microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock and roll anthems, along with online Band Career and 8-player âBattle of the Bands.
Gamasutra do Top 20 Women in Gaming, well they don’t ‘do’ them, just to clarify for those who love their sexual innuendo, they cover them in a nice little article. It’s also written by Bonnie Ruberg and we like her, so check it out.
Im sooo happy Haze bombed. my friend was rubbing it in my face that it was a ps3 exclusive and that it would be bigger and better than Gears of wars.. pft. how wrong he was!
im starting to dislike Guitar Hero just because of the shameless cashing in that goes with it.
Great addition to the site. Gives it a nice balance.
Can’t wait to start shaking my maracas – Samba de Amigo looks wicked cool!
I like the idea of Gaming News Rundown. The more news the better and bitesize snippets like these are easily digestible. Cool idea!
Looking at Haze on Youtube, and it’s typical.. guys asking how many guns, and commenting on how good it looks (videos are generally just about running around killing everyone), followed by comments about kills/gore. So yeah, yet another game for the 12 year olds trapped in 30 year old bodies.
Samba De Amigo *sigh* have to buy another controller now.
The bloody ad for Haze played on repeat at my work for about a month. I actually thought it looked okay, but I knew I would never be able to play it because by the time they switched it something else I was sick of the sight of it.
At least I know I’m not missing anything.
I’ve downloaded Lost Winds myself and have been having a lot of fun with it. I am a bit frustrated however with the Wii’s lack of space issue. I’ve downloaded about 5 VC games and with Lost Winds I’m pretty much out space now. I know you can get an additional memory card, but I’ve heard that this will require moving games over to the memory card- and then you can’t actually play the game unless you move it back to the console’s memory. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
