So I was checking out a few ‘lesbian’ related news items this morning when I came upon this ‘wondrous’ (cough) piece of ‘journalism’ (guffaw) in Daily Star Sunday. It’s by a guy called Paul Vale, he clearly thinks he’s a journalist with an oh so funny sense of humor as he discusses Devil May Cry and alleged lesbian overtones.
“There’s been some buzz on the internet suggesting that Devil May Cry 4 contains lesbian overtones. If so, could someone tell me where? I’ve been through nearly the whole game and not one of the characters wears dungarees or works in a bookshop.”
Oh Mr Vale, what hilarity, did you go to journalism school to come up with that? He goes on to mention Mass Effect and its “Sapphic romp” and how lesbianism “seems to be the latest watchword for gaming’s legion of forum monkeys”… you have to love that, he’s putting down his own readership! Here’s the clincher though… “With that brushed under the carpet (there’s a pun in there somewhere)”. This guys stupidity aside I’ll be checking out Devil May Cry 4 later this week and looking for shaven headed flannel wearing women… yawn (yes.. that was sarcasm).
I usually avoid the lurid tabloids, however the this chap seems to be onto something. The Daily Star Sunday has just won another reader.
That is hilarious, clearly you’re not a lesbian, possibly a guy, perhaps THE guy.
What exactly do you feel this uneducated fool is onto “Addison”? I’d be interested to know, since as a lesbian it tipped my agi=meter when I read it. This guy is the sort of guy that would relate Muslims to terrorism and African Americans to crime, he is a stereotyping ass.
Someone is actually going to buy that magazine based on what that guy said, man that just crazy.
He’s just an uneducated guy, doing an uneducated guy thang, seriously, like a 14 year old could have written that quote.
I have no interest in what he says, just how he says it. Agreed, it’s offensive but also funny. Sure, it’s humour from a stereotype, which is cliche. But even cliches are based in fact. I laughed out load at the bookshop line. Why? Because he sets it up with the cliche (dungarees) and then distorts the cliche to comic effect (bookshop). Feeder line, pay off line.
Gutter press.
Why anyone reads the Star for anything belies belief, it is a truly awful form of journalism, that is assuming it is even journalism.
I didn’t find humor in his snide little backward comments.
Hello there
I actually know Paul Vale and can confirm he’s a totally pointless arsewipe with all the grace, wit and charm of a dose of genital warts. When he’s not spouting pointless drivel I’m pretty sure he spends his afternoon’s dressed in Nazi Uniform worshipping a small statue of Richard “dirty” Desmond
