Sony has allegedly banned the words "gay" and "lesbian" from the service along with "jew" and "bi-sexual". Michael Marsh wanted to set up a gay/straight alliance in Home, but couldn't due to the filtering system.
We understand Sony wanting to quash possible hatred on the service, but using discrimination to do it seems kind of stupid. The discourse sociologist in me wants to scream at Sony and slap them with a wet flannel as I explain they should concentrate on the linking process of these terms with regards to hatred. So "Gay Straight Alliance" equals fine, whilst "Anti Gay Alliance" equals ban. It's not difficult Sony. Banning gay and lesbian altogether just leads those words to once more be categorized as offensive and that - as we covered before - helps no one.
Just a quick wee news post to say we hope all our readers have a wonderfultastic holiday season. May Santa fill your living rooms with lots of gaming goodness and may you be blessed enough time wise to be able to enjoy them.

The game in question is "Audere Semper: by Elisa Flavi" and its slated for a Q4 2009 release. The game features female protagonist Elisa Flavi, a journalism student longing for a real story. Needless to say adventure ensues as the young wanna-be journalist gets more than she bargained for.
Yes if you haven't guessed already, this week it's time for some Mirror's Edge, complete with live reenactment. For music game fans there's also a cornucopia of melody as the girls take on SingStar 3, Rock Band 2 and Microsoft Lips. Let's not also forget the usual lovely viewer feedback.

Let's start this by saying Bonnie Ruberg is a favorite of mine, I like her wit, her style and she's always been supportive of us here at the LG. There's an interesting piece at her site - Heroine Sheik - that went up last week discussing homophobia and if the guys at Penny Arcade fit that mold.
Given we know of at least 2 BIG gaming sites with homophobic %$@&! at the helm, along with one major publisher whose PR seem to also fit the moniker I figured sure, maybe they are, but who's gonna care. Turns out they're probably not homophobic and that the comic at the center of the issue was based on something far more disturbing. Bonnie says 'More Soon', so we look forward to her thoughts following the comments she received.

Liz explores this hypothesis and points out eerie similarities, like repetitive patterns of buying and selling, how some sellers say 'rare' when they mean 'fake' or 'not rare at all'. She states "You buy some purple pansies and on planting them realize that they look suspiciously like white cosmos. Anybody who has ever bought anything off eBay knows what I'm talking about!!"

just to let you know the last few days posts have all gone up at once. They did not auto post like they were meant to. Today the news should go up in the usual manner. Sorry for any inconvenience.
In the interview Denny states "It's a game that when you look about and when you understand it, it's really not played on the control pad, as in your head." Given developer Quantic Dream's last big title "Indigo Prophecy" (Fahrenheit) we're assuming he means this game will be an emotional headfrak with a different game mechanic to the usual run and gun. If that is the case it's fine with us.
